IPF History:
The Indianapolis Parks Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1991 to enhance the recreational, educational and cultural life of the Indianapolis community by encouraging and soliciting support for Indy Parks and Recreation. Since its inception, individuals, corporations and foundations have contributed more than $30 million to the Parks Foundation to help:
- build new parks
- maintain existing parks
- upgrade facilities
- provide support to numerous programs offered to children, families and older adults.
In July 2000, the Parks Foundation became a supporting organization of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. As a supporting organization, the Indianapolis Parks Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide additional resources to Indy Parks and direct its efforts more efficiently and effectively toward building a world class parks system.
